Professional Profile

Dr Daniel Moon is a laparoscopic urological surgeon with specific expertise in minimally invasive (laparoscopic or keyhole) surgery for prostate and kidney cancer.
Training
After achieving the highest ranking in medical school (Monash University, Melbourne, Australia 1996), Dr Moon underwent surgical training from 1998-2005. This included 12 months of dedicated training in laparoscopic surgery in the UK in 2005, with involvement in over 150 laparoscopic radical prostatectomies.Experience
Since commencing practice in Australia in 2006, Dr Moon has performed over 700 major laparoscopic procedures (the outcomes presented at multiple scientific forums as listed), and published the first Australian series of laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (see below) with results comparable to high volume international centres. Dr Moon performed the first robotic-assisted bladder removal in Australia in 2009, then introduced robotic surgery for treatment of kidney cancer at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in 2011. Dr Moon is regularly involved in training other doctors in robotic surgery and co-convened the first Australian robotic prostatectomy surgical masterclass in 2011.Appointments
